Since public funding has not kept pace with the growing needs of seniors and their caregivers, we actively solicit private donations to support our programs and avoid the need for waiting lists. We are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and you can view our recent request for financial support here.

Your donation provides financial support for 22 different programs and services. There are many ways to give:

Minuteman Senior Services Emergency Relief Fund

This fund was established during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure that we have the immediate and substantial resources we need to adjust and continue to operate during these challenging times. (When donating online, you will be able to designate your gift to this fund.)

Gifts of Cash

Cash gifts, the most common form of giving, are as easy as clicking the Donate button on the right or writing a check. Your gift placed on Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express may have added bonus for you if your credit card has an incentive program such as frequent flyer miles or purchase rebates. You can deduct 100 percent of the gift amount from your federal income tax, so your net cost is less than the face value of the contribution.

Memorial and In-Honor Gifts

Special friends, family and caregivers deserve special tributes--that's what honor and memorial giving is all about. Your gift will commemorate the importance of significant people or events in your life. It is an ideal way to thank a special person for exceptional care, commemorate the life of a family member, colleague or friend, or honor a birthday, anniversary, holiday or special event. We will promptly acknowledge your gift with an inscribed card to the person, family or organization you ask us to notify. The amount of your gift will be confidential. (When donating online, you will be able to enter any special instructions regarding memorial and in-honor gifts.)

The Joan Butler Independent Living Fund

This fund was created in honor of Minuteman's third Executive Director who retired in June 2016 after serving in the position for 34 years. Joan was a tireless advocate for seniors, people with disabilities and family caregivers. During her tenure, the agency expanded to deliver publicly funded programs like Elder Protective Services, SHINE, Family Caregiver Support, Money Management, Nursing Home Screening and Nursing Home Ombudsmen; and privately funded programs like support groups, evidence-based healthy living programs, and Minuteman By Your Side, which fills a gap in care management for people under age 60, for those not eligible for state-funded care coordination, or for those who need some additional assistance.

The Joan Butler Independent Living Fund will be accessed by our staff to provide immediate support for a person's emergency or transitional needs when no other funding source is available. Your contribution supports our efforts to help people age in place, safely and independently. Thank you

Company Matching Gifts

Many employers match their employees' contribution to charitable causes on a dollar-for-dollar basis, while some companies donate $2 or more for every employee dollar. Ask the human resources office at your workplace.

Planned Giving

In addition to a tax deduction, a Charitable Gift Annuity also guarantees you a fixed income for life, partially tax-free. The amount that you will receive is determined by your age and the age of any other beneficiary you name at the time of the gift. Bequests are made through a donor's will, trust or retirement plan and enable people to make significant contributions that might not be possible during their lifetime. When you make a bequest to Minuteman, your taxable estate is reduced by a 100 percent deduction for the amount of a cash gift, or by the fair market value of your appreciated assets.

Gifts of Real Estate and Appreciated Securities or Other Valuables

Donations of appreciated real estate, stocks and bonds, or other valuables offer significant tax benefits. A donor is entitled to take a charitable deduction for the full fair market value and the capital gains tax is eliminated in most cases.

Cell Phone & Tablet Recycling

You can donate your used smartphones, cell phones, iPads, tablets and iPods to benefit our Protective Services program. These phones are responsibly recycled through a zero landfill environmental policy and Minuteman receives cash for each device; the amount varies by the condition and age of the device. Minuteman has earned over $14,000 from this project! This is a great opportunity to be charitable and "green", so please bring your old cell phones and batteries to our office at One Burlington Woods Drive, Suite 101, Burlington, MA or to one of our community partners.

Donate Your Auto, Truck, or Boat

Donations of autos, trucks, or boats will benefit Minuteman Senior Services' Meals on Wheels program. Just call Helping Hands of America, 1-888-881-9090 (toll free) and they will pick up your donation.
