Helping alleviate food insecurity
Having nutritious food every day is critically important for maintaining health as you age. Minuteman Senior Services can connect you with services to support healthy nutrition, while providing much-needed social connection.
Meals on Wheels
The Meals on Wheels program delivers a hot lunch to homebound older adults who are unable to prepare their own meals and who meet certain guidelines. The program can accommodate special dietary needs for those with health conditions.
The daily check-in (Monday – Friday) by a Meals on Wheels driver also provides social connection, helping reduce the isolation often experienced by homebound adults. Drivers are trained to identify and report situations that might indicate a medical problem or the need for more intervention.
Nutrition Counseling
Our Registered Dietitian is available to help people learn how to eat healthy through individualized, in-home nutrition counseling and Medical Nutrition Therapy. Medical Nutrition Therapy is a benefit available to Medicare-eligible participants with diabetes and/or non-dialysis kidney disease. The Registered Dietitian also provides public nutrition presentations and outreach.
