November 2017

National Family Caregivers Month

In November we honor the work of informal caregivers, the unsung heroes who dedicate their love, time, and commitment to care for a family member or friend. For many, caregiving is a commitment 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Caregiving Around the Clock

Enhanced Caregiver Support

We have time limited grant funding to help people with dementia and their caregivers.

  • Today’s modern technologies, ranging from a simple music player to a GPS locator, can help you care for someone with dementia at home. We can help you find the right technology solutions for your situation and comfort-level, and help you pay for it. Click for details

  • Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementia-related illness can increase your loved one’s risk of nutrition problems, which exacerbate symptoms of the disease, increase caregiver stress, and lead to more frequent hospitalizations. Call us to learn if FREE specialized nutrition counseling in your home can help your family manage these challenges. Click for details

43rd Annual Meeting - "Food is Medicine"

The theme of our 43rd annual meeting on November 1 was "Food Is Medicine", and included a panel discussion on current healthcare trends which recognize the role of nutrition in promoting positive health outcomes. Honored for their support of the Meals on Wheels program were four foundations (Cummings Foundation, Foundation for MetroWest Hunger Relief Fund, Osterman Family Foundation and Meals on Wheels America) and two local meals providers (Bateman Community Living and Szechuan’s Dumpling).
