Minuteman Senior Services Needs Your Help!Since public funding has not kept pace with the growing needs of elders and their caregivers, we actively solicit private donations to support our programs and avoid the need for waiting lists. People give to organizations that have personally touched their own lives or that of a loved one, or perhaps someone bas been involved with a special cause for many years, and wants to make sure that its good work continues. Your donation provides financial support for 22 different programs and services, including Meals on Wheels, Elder Protective Services, Health Benefits Counseling (SHINE) and the Lorraine Brozyna Independent Living Fund, which provides elders with assistance when no other means of support exists. There are many ways to give:
Gifts of Cash
Cash gifts, the most common form of giving, are as easy as writing a check. Your gift placed on Visa, MasterCard or American Express may have added bonus for you if your credit card has an incentive program such as frequent flyer miles or purchase rebates or donate online below. You can deduct 100 percent of the gift amount from your federal income tax, so your net cost is less than the face value of the contribution.
TD Bank Affinity Membership Program
Minuteman is a member of the Affinity Program, a charitable effort that will generate an annual contribution from TD Bank, based on the number of members who choose Minuteman Senior Services as the recipient. Members accounts are not affected in any way - balances are used to determine the level of contribution and are kept confidential. If you are already a TD Bank customer, visit any branch location or call 781-229-4911 and ask to have your account coded to Minuteman Senior Services. Our code number is A1969. And here's a bonus for YOU: If you open a new, non-interest bearing checking account and use the coupon, TD Bank will give you $25!
Company Matching Gifts
Many employers match their employees' contribution to charitable causes on a dollar-for-dollar basis, while some companies donate $2 or more for every employee dollar. Ask the human resources office at your workplace.
Memorial and In-Honor Gifts
Special friends, family and caregivers deserve special tributes--that's what honor and memorial giving is all about. Your gift will commemorate the importance of significant people or events in your life. It is an ideal way to thank a special person for exceptional care, commemorate the life of a family member, colleague or friend, or honor a birthday, anniversary, holiday or special event. We will promptly acknowledge your gift with an inscribed card to the person, family or organization you ask us to notify. The amount of your gift will be confidential. (When donating online, you will be able to enter any special instructions regarding memorial and in-honor gifts. Please note that you will not see this link until you either enter your credit card information or login to your PayPal account.)
In addition to a tax deduction, a Charitable Gift Annuity also guarantees you a fixed income for life, partially tax-free. The amount that you will receive is determined by your age and the age of any other beneficiary you name at the time of the gift. Bequests are made through a donor's will, trust or retirement plan and enable people to make significant contributions that might not be possible during their lifetime. When you make a bequest to Minuteman, your taxable estate is reduced by a 100 percent deduction for the amount of a cash gift, or by fair fair market value of your appreciated assets.
Gifts of Real Estate and Appreciated Securities or Other Valuables
Donations of appreciated real estate, stocks and bonds, or other valuables offer significant tax benefits. A donor is entitled to take a charitable deduction for the full fair market value and the capital gains tax is eliminated in most cases.
Donate Your Auto, Truck, or Boat
Donations of autos, trucks, or boats will benefit Minuteman Senior Services' Meals on Wheels program. To find out more, click here.
Cell Phone Recycling
Please donate your old cell phones to benefit our Protective Services program.
These phones are recycled for use by domestic violence victims or, if too old, for parts, and Minuteman receives cash for each phone - the amount varies by the condition and age of the phone. The income from this project supports our elder protective services program. Please bring your old cell phones & batteries to our office at 26 Crosby Drive, Bedford, MA or to one of our community partners.
