Caring ConversationsTMWhat is a CARING CONVERSATION?We know that 25 million Americans are involved in caring for an elderly relative but most of us are not prepared for this responsibility. And let's face it. When our loved ones get older many changes occur which we may find hard to talk about. Minuteman Senior Services is offering community education programs in the Minuteman region for any group of 8 or more, called Caring Conversations, to help begin the dialogue. We want people to know us before they need us, thereby providing peace of mind and perhaps even preventing a crisis before it happens.Here is how it works:If you belong to a group such as a faith community, alumni club, women's group, professional association, or service club there is a good chance some of your members are touched by this issue. Your organization could help its members or the general public become better prepared to handle the challenges of elderly caregiving by partnering with us to host a Caring Conversation. We can help you select a topic if you're not sure which would be best and our presenters will come to the location of your choice at a mutually convenient time.Many employers are recognizing that employees are distracted at work if they are struggling with an eldercare issue and they are inviting us in to conduct Caring Conversations at the workplace. The response to Caring Conversations has been terrific: In the past year over 850 people attended 60 Caring Conversations.
