You Can! Steps to Healthier Aging

March is National Nutrition Month…
It's a Matter of Fact

Nutrition information is everywhere these days, often with conflicting messages. One of the places you can get information is the Nutrition Facts panel listed on the label. Often claims are made on the front of a food label but this is where you can get the specific information on nutrients. It is a Matter of Fact that we need good nutrition!

Another really important place to get your nutrition facts is a Registered Dietitian. The American Dietetic Association has designated March as National Nutrition Month and March 10, 2008 as Registered Dietitian Day. A Registered Dietitian can help you discover how small lifestyle changes, such as adding more vegetables to daily eating plans, quickly adds up and pays big health dividends over time. Registered dieticians use their nutrition knowledge to help individuals make unique, positive lifestyle changes.

Peg Mikkola, RD is the nutrition consultant for Minuteman Senior Services and is available to help clients who have questions about how to make some positive nutrition lifestyle changes. Peg also feels that we also need to combine "moving" on a daily basis, even if it is doing exercises in bed or while watching TV. Nutrition and exercise are natural partners - food is our body's fuel to help us move! On March 10, please give Peg a call at 781-221-7018 with your nutrition questions.

March for Meals
March for Meals is a national campaign organized by the Meals on Wheels Association of America to raise awareness of senior hunger and to encourage action on the part of local communities.
