Meals on Wheels Drivers and Senior Dining Assistants

Recruitment Flyer        Compassion Flyer

The Meals On Wheels Program is a long-standing service that provides hot lunch, cold supper, or frozen nutritious noontime meals to homebound elders, and in some cases to disabled adults who are under age 60. Meals are delivered 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year, excluding holidays. This service assists older adults who are not capable of preparing at least one hot nutritious meal a day.

Meals on Wheels Drivers deliver between 6 and 20 meals once a month or more often, with time for a quick chat and wellness check. In Boxborough, Carlisle, Harvard and Stow frozen meals are delivered once a week and the number of meals delivered may be higher.

Dining Assistants work with the Meal Site Manager to create a welcoming community, encourage conversation, update route sheets and set up/serve and clean up after lunchtime meals at senior centers. Assistants are trained to comply with safe food handling practices and procedures as well as local fire, health, sanitation and health codes.
